Our Mission

Preserve and protect life and property — in our community, and beyond it.

For more than eight decades, the Dumfries‑Triangle Volunteer Fire Department has answered for the citizens of southeastern Prince William County, working side by side with Prince William County Fire & Rescue. A combination of volunteer and career members — an effective, cost‑efficient way to keep an essential promise to our neighbors, and to render the same service to surrounding communities under mutual aid.

What We Run On

When the tones drop, we go.

Fire Suppression

Structure, vehicle and brush fires across a 29-square-mile first-due area.

Rescue & Extrication

Accidents and entrapments — hydraulic tools on Truck 503, trained crews on every shift.

Emergency Medical

EMS response and transport, side by side with county medics.

Service Calls

Lift assists, storm response, plowing the way for emergencies — whatever the neighborhood needs.

Dumfries-Triangle Volunteer Fire Department seal with a colonial sailing ship at the historic Port of Dumfries
Since 1944

Built by this town, for this town.

Our seal carries a colonial ship at the Port of Dumfries — one of Virginia’s oldest towns. The department has grown with it since 1944, from a handful of volunteers into three stations crewed around the clock.

The rigs even changed color along the way — from the old lime-yellow apparatus to the red engines you see today. The mission never did.
