For more than eight decades, the Dumfries‑Triangle Volunteer Fire Department has answered for the citizens of southeastern Prince William County, working side by side with Prince William County Fire & Rescue. A combination of volunteer firefighters, career firefighters and EMTs: an effective, cost‑efficient way to keep an essential promise to our neighbors, and to render the same service to surrounding communities under mutual aid.

Units A503 and U503 cleared a transport to the hospital, then took a lift-assistance call for a resident who slipped on ice cleaning off his car. After getting him home safely, members cleared the snow and ice off his car so he would be ready to go once the roads opened.

Our seal carries a colonial ship at the Port of Dumfries, one of Virginia’s oldest towns. The department has grown with it since 1944, from a handful of volunteers into the stations that serve this community today.
The rigs even changed color along the way, from the old lime-yellow apparatus to the red engines you see today. The mission never did.

No experience required. We train you, gear you up, and stand beside you. Neighbors protecting neighbors since 1944.
Front lines or behind the scenes, there’s a place for you. Tell us which way you want to serve and we’ll train you from there.
Minimum age 18. Operational members give about one night a week and one weekend a month.
